RECHS Area 3 Envirothon,

The Envirothon program is a hands-on environmental and natural resource competition that tests student teams on their knowledge and awareness of environmental issues. The curriculum provides comprehensive, experiential training in ecology and natural resource management while emphasizing teamwork and problem-solving. Students study five major subject areas: Aquatics, Forestry, Soils/Land Use, Wildlife, and Current Environmental Issues.

The program helps develop environmentally aware youth who are prepared to assume future leadership roles. Many participants go on to pursue careers in environmental law, natural resource management, conservation, and related fields, while others become doctors, lawyers, and professionals in many disciplines with a strong foundation and appreciation for nature and the environment.

Yesterday, Randolph Early College High School students had a successful appearance at the Area 3 Envirothon, with all three of our teams placing and advancing to the state-level competition. In the morning, students attended informational sessions on each of the five competition areas. These sessions were excellent and were led by educational specialists and park rangers.

After lunch, our teams competed against other high school teams from Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Guilford, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Orange, Person, Randolph, and Rockingham counties. With approximately 30 high school teams in attendance, the competition was strong and showcased impressive environmental knowledge and teamwork.
